Neville: The Peloponnesian War is a big conflict, or at least it’s the big conflict if you’re Greek at the end of the 5th century BCE. It lasted 27 years. Each stood at the head of alliances that, between them, included nearly every Greek city-state.

The Peloponnesian War was a war fought in ancient Greece between Athens and Sparta—the two most powerful city-states in ancient Greece at the time (431 to 405 B.C.E.).

Thucydides himself was an Athenian general in the fighting, sentenced to exile partway through the 27-year struggle, after losing a key battle to one of Sparta's leading commanders. When war broke out, everyone who lived in the countryside around Athens fled to the city to escape the Spartan attacks. The war featured two periods of combat separated by a six-year truce. They did not get along. I am excited to have this opportunity to bring back into print and enhanced version of my original Peloponnesian War design that was originally published by Victory Games. It was a terrible war. But 27 years!
